Hell, I'll throw Mack, Charlie and Dennis from "Always Sunny in Philadelphia" on the list.

I cannot wait for the show to resume.

Loved Taxi when I was a tyke.

I went with (and my reason):

Kramer: the show was an ensamble cast, but Kramer, then George stole damn near every scene during Seinfeld's run.
Alex Keaton: It was supposed to be Meredith Birney's show IMO, but Michael J. Fox became a star overnight as the smart-alecky Reagan Republican Alex P. Keaton.
Al Bundy: the Simpsons will always be the anchor that Fox relied on, but Al gave Fox a face and a name, tagging along Peg, Kelly, and Bud. Al and the brood was so outlandish, people started tuning in to Fox.
Cliff Huxtable: Jimmy Walker and Good Times introduced America and prime time to the African-American family in the 70's. The Huxtables took it up a notch with a pheomenal cast lead by Cosby. Everyone played off of Cliff and it worked masterfully.
Norm: To me, I thought that Cheers was an ensamble cast (right?). Cheers made stars out of everyone who walked into the bar in the basement in Boston. Everyone revolved around Norm, who could be the guy sitting next to us at our local dives. Everyone knows him and he always had something to say, whether it was a one-liner or something interesting.

Honorable mentions that was not on the list:

-Kraus, Benson: the sassy German cook. The one-liners between Benson and her are priceless)
-Miles, Murphy Brown: the most neurotic character I ever watched run a news program
-Carlton Banks, Fresh Prince: I can never listen to Tom Jones unless I think of Carlton dancing and talking so prim and proper, he made Geoffrey sound like a commoner.
-Suzanne Sugarbaker, Designing Women: sassy, pompous, and always the spoiled rotten of the Sugarbakers.
-Bob Newhart, Newhart: need we say more?
-Frank Constanza, Seinfeld: The tradition of Festivus begins...with the Airing of Grievances.

Kimmy had some funny lines, but she was a stool for the most part. Her best lines were digs at Jesse.
