    Never assume you're in the clear because you haven't been drinking.

    The tests are notoriously spotty, and if the cop decides you're drunk -- even if you aren't -- it will cost you a fortune proving otherwise.

    Right, it's that subjective.

    Try this one, say the ABCs ... without going into the children's song. Or have somebody pick a random letter of the alphabet and you do the rest of it from that point ... without singing it.

    Some cop buddies have told me that when they were learning how to administer the standardized Field Sobriety Test, the instructors at the academy "failed" them each time.

    The subjectivity indeed extends to the latitude given in the administration of the test, not just in the grading. I should have been more clear on that point.
