I would assess blame this way:

Clinton -- 10 percent
Obama -- 10 percent
Media -- 80 percent

Unfortunately the way politics is covered by the mainstream these days is by parsing and exploiting the most salacious or sensational tidbit with little or no thought to perspective. The reason: Hey, it sells.

disagree - You forgot someone- Bill Clinton - I would give him about 60-70% of blame. The way he conducted himself in South Carolina was a disgrace for an ex President.

Coming off victory in NH Hillary had momentum and Bill killed it.

His actions rallied many to vote for Obama. Take John Lewis district that voted 3-1 for Obama. It would not have happened if not for the actions of Bill.

The picture of Bill sleeping at the ML King tribute certainly did not help either.

My point wasn't meant to be political at all. The same thing can be said in the GOP side of the primaries. The NY Times story about McCain almost positively but at least probably screwing the lobbyist last week was a better example than anything that's happened on the Democratic side.

When I began in the business there was a thing called "news judgement" that has been completely overrun by sales-focused publishers who choose to incent and reward not good journalism but stories that sell their publications.
