Tips on filing post-game analysis pieces

I've been writing post-game analysis pieces on the local soccer team for the past 5 years, but haven't really given much thought on better ways to tackle them. I generally do the usual research, read up on both teams, jot down 4-5 storylines prior to the game, and add/subtract based on how the game plays out. How do you guys approach them? Do you have any tricks or rule of thumbs? I'm just looking for better and more efficient ways to write them, especially on deadline. Thanks in advance!
