Andrea Elliott's "beat" is "Islam in America".

There have only been four Congressional Medals of Honor awarded for service in Iraq, and two for service in Afghanistan.

If Monsoor had been a Muslim, don't you think she'd have heard about it by now? He'd have been held up as a hero in the Muslim community in America.

Monsoor was a hero. An American hero, and it's a shame that Elliott didn't know his story before she wrote an article that mentioned him and was told that she got everything about him and his service wrong.

Found this in a 2 minute google seach - Its the Navy citation for Officer Monsoor:

"Though he carried himself in a calm and composed fashion, he constantly led the charge to bring the fight to the enemy. His teammates recall his sense of loyalty to God, family, and his team. He attended Catholic Mass devotionally before operations, and often spoke lovingly of his family - his older brother, a police officer and former Marine for whom he held great respect; his sister, a nurse; and his younger brother, a college football player."

This is really sloppy reporting for what was the lead story in Monday's Times
