Time To Disband The Congressional Black Caucus?

To get back to the original post, the fact that caucasses dedicated to minority interests exist, isn't proof of a double standard or hypocrisy. This country was founded on the principle that we need protection from the tyranny of the majority, not of a minority. If there was a white majority caucus that excluded minorities, it would exist for tyranical reasons. But when minority groups form congressional caucusses to represent their interests, they don't represent that kind of threat. Being a minority means that they are typically just fighting for the right to be heard and represented. They are rarely in the position the majority is in, to squelch dissent.

    Yes, thank you.

It's like when I was in college and people got upset that there was a black student union.

"Why can't we have a white student union?" someone would say.

Becaue the regular student union is the white student union, moron.

  4. Just for my own info, what was brother Cohen's stance on the race-baiting TV ads that Bob Corker used against Ford last November?

    Way to be flippant.
Does equal protection ring a bell?
We're talking about public servants doing business on the tax payers' dime.
Equal protection is just as valid as church-state.

    That's a great point.
It would be like Arizona not wanting to adopt MLK Day.

Although made up entirely of Democrats, the CBC is officially nonpartisan
The Hispanic Congressional Conference includes at least one Republican of whom I know, Nunes, who also happens to not be Hispanic but represents a Hispanic-majority district.

They are the BLACK Congressional Caucus. The name alone tells you it has to do with skin color. What exactly is the hypocrisy?

If you walk in the door and ask to join they are making a judgement based on your skin color. Lets say Tiger Woods becomes a member of Congress. Would they accept him?

They're a group that is based on skin color. Hypocrisy would be if they were the Black Congressional Caucus and they didn't allow a black person to join. I still don't understand what they do that is hypocritical. nor did you explain. If Tiger Woods was a member of Congress he would obviously be eligible to join.
