    If memory serves, wasn't Thomas Boswell questioning Canseco (and possibly by extension) McGwire way back during the Oakland A's run in the late 1980s for possible performance enhancement? And didn't he get his ass chewed big-time by the players and also by Tony LaRussa?

    It was 1988, and was shredded for it. Thought it was in a column but now that I think about it, might have been an interview Boswell did with (maybe?) Charlie Rose.
