Maybe with all the celebrity deaths, it will be the Grim Reaper.

Now that I think about it - Rupert Murdoch wouldn't be a bad choice, Fox News, WSJ, Fox Network (American Idol), 20th C. Fox Studios.

Unlikely Time would select a media competitor. But they might pick somebody like that guy who founded Facebook.
My guess: Either a group name "The Unemployed" or Ben Bernanke.

    Sirs, Madames,

Palin. Can anyone determine if she's related to Michael?

    But seriously ...

I think it's likely to have a business theme. Geitner? I don't think so. Madoff? Scale isn't quite there. The American worker? The unemployed? Something amorphous ... maybe. Murdoch is an interesting choice (business with WSJ and media with that and everything else) but I don't see Time giving a shout-out to a rival.

Internationally, the guy with the match beside the kindling in North Korea might get some consideration with hostages released, border opening and then shots fired between N and S Korean military. An easy choice would have been Tony Blair if he had managed himself into a lead position in the EU but that's up in smoke and the short list now is decidely less than inspirational.

    Lou Dobbs?

The Angry Conservative. Has kept Obama from getting a health care plan through a Congress in which he has gaping majorities, has shaped the political dialogue of the year, has generated the most powerful media figures of the year.
