We interrupt the politics ban to congratulate the corpse of Janis Canham on winning re-election as mayor of Jackson Gap, Ala.

And in case you were curious what a candidate says after finishing up the track to a dead woman ...

The deceased's opponent just found out how little the town respects him.

Speaking of ... incumbent Decatur mayor receives 6 percent of the vote. Damn.

The one thing I dreaded about my town's mayor's race happened ... a runoff.

The main challenger, who finished about 200 votes ahead of the incumbant, must have found a Groupon for automated dialers. For me it came to a head Monday night, when I got about my sixth call in a month. This time it was her husband on the recording, so I looked up their number in the White Pages.

    "Hello"
"Hi is this Bobbie Sue Blabbermouth?"
    "This is she."
"Bobbie Sue, this is dixiehack, one of the constituants you are hoping to have. I don't know if you have unlimited cell phone minutes, but I don't. This was like the sixth call I've received, and what's sad is you don't ever seem to even have the decency to call in person." (end button).

Then I put the recap on Twitter, complete with phone number.

I think it was the WBC that had a dead boxer in its rankings, and refused to remove him for a while.

Meanwhile across the state, Uniontown wins the civic participation award with 125% turnout.
