Could someone explain how in the world did Girardi not get this gig?

Actually, I'm in favor of Piniella. He won't put up with bullshit. Plus, in order to get him to take the job, something tells me they committed to spending a hella lot of money on the payroll.

If there's any chance for the Cubs to get A-Rod, this would be it. Just a theory there.

Why would the Cubs give the Yanks all the young talent they have to get a headcase like A-Rod?

I think at this point the Yankees would be willing to sell A-Rod for 60 cents on the dollar.

Who would you rather spend "big boy money" to get.......A-Rod or Girardi?

A-Rod. No question. Postseason failings be damned. Plus, he'd likely return to shortstop where he'd be happier.

The acting president of the Cubs, John McDonough, is also the head of the marketing/broadcasting operation.

Who do you suppose will bring more buzz...Girardi or Piniella?

(Not to say Piniella won't be a good manager in Chicago...but the Cubs need to give their fans something to get excited about, other than the breathless wait for the list of Take Me Out to the Ballgame singers.)

Which used to be a special time, but now has all the freshness of "today's first pitch is thrown by Jim Jones of Conglomomart Corp..."
