I feel like we can trust the dad to guage his kid's reaction to that line better than we can.

Nickleback blaring from Nate's room was the telltale give away.

Showed much more interest in the Three Bears than Goldilocks.

Wanted to live with the 7 dwarfs and be kissed by Prince Charming.

Always kept his bedroom neat and pressed his clothes for school.

I don't know how your parents or your friends' parents were, but privacy was an iffy proposition with most of the people I grew up around.

And, btw, if this is a real story, hooray for the parents and the teen.

As for privacy, well, I'm older than you. There were no cell phones when I was growing up, and even cordless phones didn't come out until I was older.

So, there were phones in the kitchen, my parents bedroom, and in an office/den off of the living room. And, I had five brothers. So, there wasn't a lot of privacy.

But, if you think you're having a private conversation, then it might be a little odd to find out it was overheard.

Same boat, sir. Cordless phones did exist, but we didn't have one until I was 17 or so.

You think they really needed to look?
