Ok...since the person posing the question would not/could not confirm if I was correct, I looked it up.

I was right. Dwight Evans was the correct answer. His career began in 1972 and he retired in 1991, spanning seven work stoppages.

Then Nolan Ryan is also correct, as his career began in 1968 or 1969 and he played longer than Evans.

Good point...not 100 percent sure of my source on the work stoppages starting in '72, though. But yes, if Evans was correct, Ryan would have to be correct as well.

If Nolan isn't right, neither is Dewey.

The player's career would have to span 1972-1994.

I checked elsewhere. According to SI.com, there were 7 work stoppages between 1972 and 1990. The question was about the first seven stoppages, right?

Ryan and Evans were both active for all of these. BYH was wrong when he told you that Ryan was an incorrect answer.

I forgot the 1985 two-day strike when I said it was seven work stoppages. It was eight.

    Please try again. My apologies.

Also, I am amused that OOP once again can't handle being ignored.

    Poor little OOP.

OK, who was the drummer for an early college version of Steely Dan?

I think BYH fucked up his question and should feel shame.

The same shame Brandon felt after he crashed his dad's car driving drunk.

Exactly. And when could I not handle being ignored. I wanted to know if I was correct and BYH was ignoring my post and proclaiming his question unanswerable. So I looked it up and tried to set the record straight.

Next time at least try to know the answer when you ask a trivia question. :)
