I have a new appreciation of Jim Carry after the Cars Coffee episode.

Steve Carrell was well known from Anchorman and The Daily Show when he was cast. But 40-Year-Old Virgin came out between the time he was cast and The Office debut and he was a big star.

Rashida Jones went from The Office to Parks and Rec, so she wasn't an unknown. Aziz had a following from doing standup and sketch comedy and they featured him heavily in the early marketing for the show.

Steve Carrell was light years from A list when the office started. He was a goofball typecast.

The collection of talent when P&R ended is staggering.

The first six episodes of The Office aired over the course of a month the spring between Anchorman and 40-yo Virgin.

When the first full season started the next fall, 40-yo Virgin was a summer hit and the season premier had twice as many viewers as any episode the previous mini-season.

I finally caught a replay of that episode tonight. I've been off and on with the series, but that was heavy stuff.

HBO's The Deuce, created by David Simon, is fantastic. Think the Sopranos crossed with the Wire but instead of the drug trade it focuses on 70's NYC prostitution and the genesis of the porn business. Great acting and there about four interactive plot lines that are developed through each episode. Season 1 is available on HBO on demand and season 2 debuts next month.

Saw the whole series and its wonderful. It's the Godfather for TV. Love Cillian Murphy and the women in the show. And I really enjoy Tom Hardy. Great show.
