The State layoffs?

    I heard rumors of layoffs at The State in Columbia, S.C. today, specifically on the design desk. Anyone able or willing to confirm/deny this?

    Tell that to the guys and girls in Greensboro ... especially the ones that had just started working there when they got the pink slip ...

    They did have a pretty lengthy hiring freeze before the sale to McClatchy, I recall.

    Although McClatchy's hitting some rough patches, they hire or keep staff level more often than cut. Having said that, if this is true then all bets are off.
