Exactly, Cosmo. Ratings will not enter the equation when making this decision. It just won't.

One of the reasons the ratings were down in 2006, with Tiger, is that the U.S. had no chance to win on Sunday. Europe led 10-6 after doubles.

You guys can keep debating about Tiger.

I'm just trying to figure out why anyone would want to see compromising photos of Montgomerie.

  5. Jim Gray declares Pavin a liar. Says so to his face ...

I heard an interview with Paul Azinger who said Pavin hasn't picked his brain at all about the Ryder Cup, and he sounded a little peeved about it.
The best thing about the Ryder Cup is that it's about the only time big time golfer get ripped for poor performance. In most tournaments, nobody cares if they don't make the cut.
Between Monty, Pavin, Tiger and it being on Euro soil it should be pretty good regardless of how it turns out. At least one of the captains will get ripped.

I'm having trouble with the image of Jim Gray wagging his finger in Pavin's face and saying, "You're going down."

Apparently, Pavin's wife recorded the whole thing on her cell camera.

    Gray's a bottom feeder.

If you're gonna make it about rankings vs. ability, then following the same logic, the World Series every year should be Yankees or Mets vs. Dodgers or Angels (mix and match at your peril). And how about 2008, where the them was "how will the U.S. win with Tiger rehabbing his knee?" ... until the U.S. won without him.

And, yes, he's always gagged during Ryder Cup.

"You're going down"?? Will there be a cage match? Gray needs to get over himself.

Did Pavin say he "would" tab Tiger Woods or "will" tab Tiger Woods? Big difference in word choice. Would has some wiggle room for context, will is more definite.

Jim Gray manages to come off like an asshole in interviews with stunning consistency.
