The running ACADEMY AWARDS thread

Less than an hour to the red carpet special.

Just started watching the pre-game special. Goddamn, it's Ben Moron-y.

 

A bunch of us from work are going out tonight. I think an Oscar drinking game will be in place. You know, a shot every time someone says Oscar... or drink as long as someone runs over on their acceptance speech (which is supposed to be 45 seconds unless there is a big star getting an award or they make a political statement. Then the orchestra is supposed to start playing immediately).

 

Oh, and I'm pretty sure the Academy Awards are actually in September. Unless the Oscars are also known as the Academy Awards and I missed something.

I thought the Oscars and Academy Awards were the same thing.

 

I'm afraid to flip over for fear I won't remember to turn back to the race, and then I'll get fired.

So I'll flip over once they finally call this thing.

I was pretty sure the Academy Awards and the Emmys were the same thing, and was confirmed upon looking at the Academy Awards web site.

 

Nevermind. I stand corrected. The academy gives out the Emmys. Forgive me.

 

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences gives out the Emmys.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences gives out the Oscars.
