The road to Omaha

I'm not shedding any tears for UVa, but they should have earned a top three seed. Getting a national seed isn't getting shafted, but they're better than Coastal. Even though it was a midweek game, they beat the Chants head to head, and the Hoos played a much more difficult schedule.

The Cavaliers are simply built for Omaha this year. They don't have any weaknesses. With the starting pitching, bullpen, defense, hitting, and last season's experience to go with all that, anything less than a championship should probably be a disappointment. Those are some high expectations, and maybe my east coast bias is showing, but they're the most balanced team in the country.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see Coastal bounced by Charleston in their regional.

So they've got no pitching and no hitting. Other than that, they're good to go :D

But they'll win whichever game they throw Pomeranz.

Leaving in a few hours for Los Angeles. Anything to do or see there? ;)

So if you're Ole Miss, do you save Pomeranz for your second game (assume it'd be UVa) and try to slip past a St. John's squad that seems to be overchieving a bit right now? Or burn him up in the opener and make sure you stay in the winners' bracket?

Save him, though they probably won't.

I just saw where the NCAA suspended Louisville coach Dan McDonnell three games for "inappropriate actions" in a Big East tournament game against St. John's. With any luck, he'll serve the third game of that suspension in the 2011 season opener. Could not happen to a more deserving program.

Where are you staying. If it's near UCLA, Santa Monica is real close. 3rd Street Promenade. It's on .... 3rd street. Head West straight down Wilshire. If you get to the ocean, you missed it.

One of Alabama's starters learns some tough news - diagnosed with hodgkin's lymphoma. Good thing is they caught it early and he should recover fully

Here's the bracket if people are wondering...

Texas has a cakewalk into the Super Regional. The Longhorns are only going to go as far as their pitching takes them, once again.
