Kaepernick's going to take heat, but my bet is more players start doing it until the NFL does something.

Carlos Delgado did something similar during God Bless America after 9-11...it was protest over US weapons tests in Puerto Rico

The NFL has put itself into this with its flag-waving military connections too, more than any other league.

As a side note, can we close up one thread or the other? (Probably keep this one open and lock the off-season thread.) feels like we end up discussing the same material in two different spots.

If Kaepernick loses out to Gabbert, it's because Chip Kelly is racist. #getreadyforthosecolumns

Now that Kaep has designated black qb they will move him to flanker

Sunshine, how much of the first unit played for the Bears? The Steelers' offense looked like complete dogshit in the preseason until last night, but it really didn't matter because they weren't playing their stars. I'm not really familiar with how Chicago is handling the preseason, though usually this is the week teams play their starters much of the way.

All that matters is individual question marks and staying healthy. It was fun to watch Roethlisberger and Brown tear through the Saints, for example, but that doesn't teach us anything. It is more important that Villanueva still looks shaky at left tackle. Or that Pouncey seems like he is healthy and ready to go. The same is true for Bell. His recovery from a knee injury got lost somewhat in the suspension, but he looked as explosive as ever. Jesse James had a nice night at tight end. Maybe he can at least replace Heath Miller as a receiver, though clearly not as a blocker. And Cam Heyward got hurt, so Pittsburgh might be without its best defensive player to start the season.

Those are the types of things that matter in preseason games, not the overall play of the team. Any stuff like that catch your eyes regarding the Bears?
