Yeah, I know the Johnstown Chiefs were named to cash in on the movie Slap Shot and are not related to the Jets, but it looks like they could head to Greenville, S.C.

Now, the golden years are behind you.

One season, you'll be hanging up the blades and retiring the axe.

Then you'll remember it was Joe McGrath who trained you for the front office.

I'm sorry, Jerry. Like I say, I'd like to cancel the order.

In fact, I've got some equipment I'd like to sell.

The skate sharpener, the massage table, the Jacuzzi, our bus...

Yeah, it's apparently a done deal, unless someone steps up at the last minute with the money to keep them going in Johnstown.

As sad as this news is, the fact is the ECHL probably outgrew Johnstown a long time ago. Maybe it would be a better fit for the IHL or this new Federal League that's been talked about - and wouldn't the Federal League look good in Johstown?

Still, coming hard on the heels of the sudden death of Jack Murtha.....Johnstown's not having a very nice February. People there are probably wondering what the hell could possibly happen next.

As for me, it kinda kicks the shit out of my plan to sell some copies of my book next fall or winter at a Chiefs game.

Come on, it's been 120 years. No way is that too soon.

I don't think anyone is offended, necessarily.

But it's actually only been 33 years since the last killer flood in Johnstown.

Eighty-five deaths, $300 million worth of damage in the 1977 flood.
