He was one of a kind ... what other NFL coach do you know of that sued his former team for workman's comp??? The horror that was coaching under the Ford family appeared to give Wayne a bad back.

Any chance of getting him back?

Millen tried about 9 times in the first four years of his tenure ... Barry told him to go fuck himself.
    I don't blame him.
As a Lions FanBoy looser since birth, probably the WORST of all our disasters was never getting him a ring ... or at least a chance to really even play for one.
Even after he bailed and took a bunch of the team's money with him, I never really cared. He had virtually been the only reason the team wasn't 2-14 for the three or four years prior to the Millen era.
Well, he and Jason Hansen anyway.

Barry Sanders is a quitter. I don't feel sorry for him.

No one ever asked you to feel sorry for him.
He doesn't need the pity of a White Sox fan.

You're right. Given his success, Barry's probably a Cubs fan.

    Ok that's funny. Well played!

Sanders was an artist . . . but the Cubs probably have guys who would be a better risk at fourth and goal from the two than Sanders was.

One of the best Wayne stories, and there are hundreds of them.

I'd take the Hawk with an inch to go any day.

I might be the only person in the world that agrees with you. If he had to leave the sport, he could have given a heads up before the season. Asked for a trade, or allowed a trade and then retired. The Lions screwed him because he sucked. He screwed the Lions because he was bitter.

William Sanders burned more bridges with the Lions than Barry ever did......
