A sweet potato is supposed to be one of the foods that provides all the basic nutrients. Not sure about cost, though.

You can get a ton of rice for a buck and it's a staple in many countries.

Cake has a great calorie-to-cost ratio, too. Let impoverished people eat that.

    Cake has great music too.

If it's so nutritious, eat one every few days and see how that works out for ya. /Spurlock

Didn't Spurlock eat at Mickey D's every day for a month? And he survived.

Beans are high in protein and also fiber, which helps you feel full.

Also, if you pound those beans, you might fart in three octaves, too.

Ragu isn't the only person who weeps.

    I don't get this thread.

Why would anyone eat at ANY fast food restaurant more than say, once a month? It's not eating. It's stuffing crap down your throat.

It's a NY Post article. What do you expect?

My guess would be bananas and spaghetti with red sauce would give you a pretty good bang for your buck without killing you.

Wow, talk about a sweeping generalization. Yeah, those salads at Wendy's are sure crap.
    It's food. It's cheap. It's convenient.

    From Wendy's website:
Apple Pecan Chicken – 580 calories, 27 grams of fat, 1,590 milligrams of sodium

That's the "healthiest" salad there (if you eat it as made).
Wendy's puts bacon, blue cheese, processed chicken, fatty dressing, etc., on their "healthy" item.
Yeah, you can go there and get a salad, but you need to dumb it down to make it good for you.

I wasn't talking about salads. I was talking about factory manufactured hamburgers/chicken fingers. They're pretty gross and have nothing to do with real food

And yes, a Wendy's salad is cheap and convenient but you know you can actually make one in about a minute on your own. From produce that you bought from a farmer's market in your town. Or maybe not.
