Yes, because that approach has worked so well since the Reaganites came into power.

Who said it was a birthright? The point is, birth control is an effective way to stop unwanted pregnancy and the government and medical industries want to make it a) more expensive to obtain; and b) more difficult to obtain.

And then they say, "Don't have sex; that'll cure everything." Of course. ::)

Actually, that approach works every time it's tried. Blaming abstinence as an approach because of the people who don't abstain is kind of like saying that studying hard leads to stupidity because of the people who don't study hard.

I'm with crimson. It's not my job to subsidize your luxuries.

    1) You're not subsidizing anything. The drug manufacturers are. It's called promotion and branding.

    2) Birth control is a "luxury"? News to me.

Well, then we both learned something.

  12. Actually, no, we didn't.
This thread has taken a major turn for the worse.
"Subsidizing" birth control -- which is to say, running federally funded health clinics for people who are too poor and too rural to take advantage of the brilliant way we run health care generally in this country -- is no different from any other kind of medical expenditure.
    Jeebus.
