    He did this a long time ago in a similar deal in the Busch Series, 2002 or 2003. What's the big deal? (Wrangler wasn't the sponsor, but the deal is more about the number, not the sponsor.)

    The big deal is the number is supposed to have been retired after Dale Sr.'s death.

    Does this mean people now have to rip those ridiculous "I loving memory of '3'" decals from the rear windows of their F-150s and late-80s Oldsmobile Cutlass Supremes?

    In some areas of the South, no.

    Those tributes will last until the trade-in ... and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if some owners scrape those decals off and use them again.

    Hasn't NASCAR said that they won't retire numbers because they would eventually run out?
