They serve it in Shawshank, you know...

True. It's like Americans saying "American football" or the Brits calling it "British cricket."

Is it "Canadian bacon" up north? What's back bacon?

Yes, it's Canadian bacon. But it's just Canada goose. Go figure.

What do they call French fries in France? What do they call Swiss cheese in Switzerland?

Pommes frites on the former (with mayonnaise, of course). Don't have a clue on the latter.

My ex-wife used to mix mayo and ketchup for her french fries. Wonder if that's one of the reasons why she's an ex.

Guess we won't be hooking up in the Brokeback tater patch then, Alley.
I loves me some mayo on my freedom fries.

Guess you don't have to have garlic. But try buying Texas Toast in your grocer's freezer. Coated with garlic.

Speaking of bread, Esquire has a great section in the March issue on the best sandwiches in America.

There is also, as always, a great piece by our very own Jones on Havana. It doesn't appear to be online but it's a great issue. Buy it.

  10. Texas toast with butter = Texas toast

Texas toast with butter and garlic = garlic toast (still tasty, but not as good to make a sandwich out of or dip in the gravy that comes with your DQ chicken-strip basket)

After reading that, I want a sandwich. I particularly enjoyed the thought of maple syrup in my BBQ sauce. i think I'll try that.

You can always tell a Texan when they bring up DQ.
