i'm not a Mets fan but they should've hired Backman. probably when they hired Manuel. who knows maybe Backman wouldn't work out, but he deserves a shot. seemed like he was waiting for this job now could see him trying to go anywhere.

maybe because Manuel worked out so well

i always liked him as a player, even though my uncle used to say he'd pull an OF in behind 2B because he had no fuckin power at all.

i also think he'd be entertaining and would take 2 maybe 3 weeks before calling beltran or reyes a pussy

 

All of which make him a good manager?
After all he's done great in independene leagues (aka semipros) and Class A short season (18-20 year old rookies).
