Tennis great Bob Hewitt 'suspended indefinitely' from Hall of Fame

Didn't see a thread on this, or maybe nobody cares, but it's pretty significant when a Hall of Famer gets the boot. His plaque is down off the wall, and there is no mention of him on the Hall of Fame's website. I get a feeling more of these types of stories will keep cropping up as time goes on.

    Relieved it's not him.

Totally misleading thread title, IMO. Really should include the first name.

Years ago, a magazine - pretty sure it was SI - did a fabulous story on the doubles team. They were a perfect match in tennis but could not stand each other. Political opposites, etc. Terrific story.

Every time I read something like this, I catch myself wondering, "Who else?"

I figured that in order to be suspended from the Hall of Fame, you'd have to be a Hall of Famer. But I get where you're coming from.

I've talked about this issue quite a bit with my son's swim coach, a thirtysomething woman who was a Division I swimmer and who since then has coached at all levels through elite high school/club. She says it's such an open secret that the guys credit each other for the years they land the real hotties. I figure tennis is about the same. Unfortunately, I think most people "in the know" would agree that this goes well past a few bad apples, and you'd almost have to automatically be suspicious of any coach working with young girls.
