Tell me about St. Augustine, Florida...

Many of you SJ'ers have been around the country a few times, so please share your thoughts on St. Augustine and the surrounding area? Never been there but was accepted and enrolled into Flagler College and will begin this autumn. I think I've looked through almost every damn college in the US and for many reasons came to the conclusion that this was the best choice for me. Very impressed with the college after talking to students online, taking a virtual tour, and doing research.

Anyway, I plan on visiting the campus and the area for the first time in a few weeks and know completely nothing about northern Florida, being a Ft. Laud/Miami/Key West guy myself. Any tips/advice/suggestions/comments?

If you want beach, schlep to Daytona or Jax. The shoreline at St. Augustine has eroded to shit and gone.

    It's the nation's oldest city.

The 'fountain of youth' there does not work.

At least you won't have to wait long for real estate.

Very pretty city. Close to Jax and to Daytona, and hell Orlando too. Only spent an afternoon there, but absolutely loved it.

Yes. Not right next door, though. You could have checked a map, y'know.

But why would you allow yourself to be dropped on your head like that?
