Ok, so my son who loves The Wire doesn't have access to HBO/Movie Network at university and I promised I'd copy each episode on to a DVD and mail it to him.

Then I thought: is there a way I could load the DVD on to my computer, save it in some format or another and then e-mail it to him?

Thanks from The Guy Who's Two Days Older Than Spinited. :)

It's even easier if you have a Mac, btw. You can use "Instant Handbrake" which is a lot simpler.

I have a copy of the first episode of this season's The Wire on my computer as I type.

A friend transfered it over MSN Messenger. It took about an hour.

That might work JR. Then your son can burn it to DVD.

As for me, I have a copy, but in using Win Amp, Media Player and something else, I can only hear the audio. Anyone know why?

You probably don't have the right codec for the video type. What's the file extension?

I recommend VLC player (for both mac and pc) and/or DIVX.
