    Without seeing the letter, I don't know what to say. You don't know if there's a libel-type thing in the letter that the parents are ticked off about. I doubt that, though.

    If what the parents allege is true -- that a counselor who never met their daughter filled out the form and gave her below-average recommendations that resulted in the loss of a scholarship that paid for 80 percent of an out-of-state college education -- I would sue the hell out of the school, too. I know a lot of parents go overboard, but sticking up for your child in and of itself is no sin. Like with the Toronto story, I'm sure there's a lot of background we don't know that could make all sides look more (or less) reasonable.
