Teacher's porn star past

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by HanSenSE, Mar 10, 2011.

  1. Interesting thought. When I first read it, I somehow differentiated a "girls gone wild" video from a porn video, since one is a momentary "have a good time" moment, and the other is a choice for cash. But the same problems arise from it . . . it creates a distraction once either is found out. Makes me at least think twice about my original stance, but in the end, I still feel like the school had very little choice in dealing with this in the way they did.

And, somehow, I have a hard time believing that a murderer stands a better chance at getting a job as a teacher than a porn star, Dooley. And I agree that the school may be losing a good teacher, but there are plenty of people who are good teachers, I'm sure, who can line up to replace her. Their past decisions are what seperates them from her, in this case. In the end, the kids don't lose out on learning.

  2. There's the difference . .. I don't see a current-day nuclear physicist who may have been a porn star making her way through college losing her job over this. I do, however, see a school teacher and a congresswoman. Whether that is right or wrong is left up to human opinion.

Facebook is the biggest problem for school HR staffs right now.

Don't think these are valid comparisons. Last I checked, making pornos wasn't against the law.

If she had been in the biz a couple years ago, maybe I could see the uproar over something like this. Twenty years ago? Sometimes you need to let it go.

Of course, if she had been a college professor, she could have had sex in class, like they do at Northwestern:

Anyone who has ever done anything bad in their past shouldn't be allowed to hold a job.

    Sorry. Should have known better.

  8. Taking this to an extreme?

She can hold a job, but teaching children might not be among them.

She should offer to teach sex education!
