Junkie, it's not the fact that they might be spying on me fand infringing upon my rights that bothers me. I'm doing nothing wrong, so it doesn't scare me.

What does scare me is the fact that, even if I'm not doing anything wrong, they can spy on me. Legally.

As some guy named Ben once said, "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." I tend to agree with him.

I'd rather a terrorist walk into my house with an Uzi and blow me all to hell than have American politicians wiping their ass with the Bill of Rights. But that's just me.

I pray to God Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse were not among the 16 quislings.

    Good thing you said "many."

As a born and bred Kentucky boy, mentioning gun control around anyone I know is about like screaming bomb on an airplane. You just don't do it.

Well said on Patrick Henry. And CJ good work on the Ben Franklin quote. I don't even see how republicans can support this. What ever happened to that small government thing?
I think I'm gonna go vote for Ron Paul.

That was the answer I expected. And feared.

Well, until George and his band of cronies start hanging everyone who speaks out against them for treason, I think it's a pretty safe bet that we're all a tad safer than ol' Pat was on the average afternoon.

This is as simple as it gets. Based on what is ON THE RECORD about this administration's handling of the department of Justice, anyone who thinks it is not spying on its poltical opponents, including all Democratic members of Congress, is either a hopeless partisan who actually thinks that's a great idea, or way, way, way too naive and gullible to hold down a job in journalism,

If I were a Democrat running for president, I would make a big show out of buying encryption technology for my campaign. Make the charge-their enemy isn't bin Laden, it's you.

The only way we can lose the war on terror is by giving up all the freedoms this country was founded on and our patriots have died for.

Islamic extremists are not going to ride over here on their camels toting AK-47s and take over NYC.

"He who would give up an ounce of freedom for a pound of security, will lose both and deserve neither."-- Benjamin Franklin.

Some of our citizens are awfully trusting of our government and seem to have no issue with the expansion of their powers. It is ironic to me that most of these people come from the right who constantly claim fear of governmental expansion.
