guy who killed his disabled daughter visits mom, now she's dead

WILKIE, Sask. - The mother of a Saskatchewan man who became the centre of a debate over mercy killing has died.
Robert Latimer visited his mother, Mary, earlier this month at the nursing home in Wilkie where she lived.
He was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 10 years after gassing his 12-year-old disabled daughter Tracy with carbon monoxide in the cab of his truck.
He received permission from the National Parole Board earlier this month to visit his ailing mother before he reported to an Ottawa halfway house.
Mary Latimer's funeral will be held at the United Church in Wilkie on Thursday.
Latimer, who has always said he killed his daughter for compassionate reasons, says he will continue to press for a new trial. (CJNB)
