    Johnson didn't vote because he almost died and is still at home recovering.

    Brownback likely had a campaign event, though I don't know for sure. Think he was in Iowa yesterday.

    I wish that thing had gotten 59 votes without him voting, so he could explain his absence. I know he would have voted against, but he still would have had to explain himself.

    No trouble.

    Had the dems gotten to 59 on the whip count on that one, I can only imagine you'd have seen a great scene with Johnson -- whose son is in the service -- being wheeled down the aisle to cast the deciding vote.

    That scenario still might play out on one of these war bills.

    How much do the Dems need to pay a couple hypocritical family-values hookerphiles to make that happen?
