Without going into the crazy details, I had a tax problem.
My state said I owned more than three grand in state income tax, while I maintained they owed me money, roughly a couple hundred bucks.
Got the letter yesterday. I won!
Turns out my defense of, "I didn't live here then, so why should I pay your state's income tax on money earned while I lived and worked in another state" was both plausible and legal.
So mark it down. I beat the tax man.
It was truly a great day when I opened that letter and saw that my appeal was approved.
    Truly awesome.

Not to take away from your huge win, but it sounds like they just made a mistake.

Nailing the virgin was a much bigger victory, IMO.

    Congratulations.

Enjoy the yearly audits that will take place from now until five years after you die.

It took me 18 months and about 80 hours of gathering paperwork, etc., to clear up an issue with the IRS where I was totally in the right. I can't imagine what it would be like if I was dealing with a discrepancy on the questionable side.

    Congrats...

You might have beaten Taxes, but that just means Death is coming for you even harder.
