Stupid Axios crap

Everyone's favorite tweet-like news publisher is selling AxiosHQ, software that will enable businesses to update their employees—including through internal newsletters—in the Axios bullet-point style, which it calls "“exponentially more efficient." Starts at $10,000 a year. It claims $1M in sales already, to Delta and AT&T.
Does anyone else get a migraine trying to translate Axios into English? Here's a recent example:
    • McConnell's vote would open the door to the possibility that Trump could be convicted and prohibited from running for president again.

That example reads fine. It could be shorter:

McConnell's vote could lead to Trump being convicted and banned from holding public office.

So now we're all supposed to publish in the style most easily digestible to an imbecile like Donald Trump.

Maybe we can put pictograms next to the bullets.

When our company switched over to CUE a couple of years ago for its web publishing, they replaced the usual <bullet> commands with an easier "list bullet" thingy. For some reason the writers and web producers have latched onto it like it was some newfangled toy. I've seen stories that had 40+ bullets out of 50something paragraphs.

The really bad news for print is that those list bullets have fucked-up indentions where all lines except the first line with the bullet are indented a pica or so. It turns what would be, say, a 30-inch story into a 35-inch one. Just because of excess indentation.

SEO for whatever reason encourages bullets, so that’s part of it.

The move toward bullets and PPT has given rise to the comms business consultant, the person with actual English skills who helps various business units within a company communicate with each other.

Yes, because most people in the Internet Age have an attention span of an ant and can't be bothered to read anything longer than a Facebook post.

Most audiences are mobile-first now and the bulleted stuff plays better on mobile

    Fishy, fishy in a brook
Daddy catch it on a hook
Mommy fry it in a pan
