Carrying 40 pounds while incline walking incorporates both.

That's why I've shortened the cardio workouts and amped up the intensity. Along with the study that kicked off this thread. I was wasting time.

    Inadvertently paging Starman.

Starman to the glittery rotary phone.

I don't know how accurate it was, but I had a Nike heart rate monitor that also tracked calories burned during a workout. Several years ago I would work out for nearly three hours, lifting and then 45 minutes on the stair climber, and I'd wear the monitor. It routinely calculated that I'd burn 900 to 1,200 calories during that time. At 5'10", I weighed about 165, and other than beer my diet was low in calories.

    Side question: my Fitbit died.

Any recommendations on a replacement? Go with another Fitbit, or a Nike gadget or other?

    Suggestions welcome.

I truly wonder how much of the obesity "epidemic" is related to people getting the wrong damn advice for years. For decades.

I can remember eating mounds of spaghetti because I was told that you should eat a low-fat diet.
