This is as unreliable as the idiots who every spring predict the actual number of hurricanes that'll develop over the next nine months. All this is further proof that too many people have too much free time on their hands.

SST is a factor, but it's only one factor. Wind shear (or actually a lack thereof), surface humidity, and some sort of convergence of global weather systems are factors that favor hurricane formation as well.
