Starting lineman benched for boot camp

    At some point the lad knew that his choice to enlist (not enroll. perhaps splitting a hair, but still) in the military was going to cause him to miss practices. He committed to one team at the expense of the other. If he's going to be in the military, I want him to know that rules have to be followed.

    OTOH, I can see where someone might draw comparisons between this and an employer taking disciplinary action against an NG soldier. Football being optional and all, I don't think the comparison would be valid. The kid is the one who chose to do this, and if he didn't know the consequences, well, he should have.
