If they do a movie featuring the planet-eating doomsday machine, I'm there ...

Or, one that features Star Trek hippies ...

Or, one that features this guy ...

    ... this enemy ...

    ... this mind-meld ...

    ... these dudes ...

    ... or this woman ...

    ... shit! I meant ...

    ... then I'm there.

My dad is a Trekkie. I saw a few episodes as a kid.

God, I love the Space Hippies. Especially the future leader of the Good Ol' Boys.

    "Herbert! Herbert!"

"Gonna crack my knuckles and jump for joy . . I got a clean bill of health from Doctor McCoy!"

    Steppin' into Eden. Yea, brother.

Spelling is correct, pallister. You must have seen one of the best episodes -- "Amok Time" -- of the original series.

Wow, I can't believe you liked the original Star Trek, and never watched any of the ensuing series! That's got to be unheard of in Trek-dom.

The Trekkie's bedroom .... where no woman has gone before. :D

(Except, apparently, in the Bubbs household.)

Given that I am a Trek fan, and a woman, I gotta disagree. ;D

    Saw it last night.
No spoilers, but how they handled Leonard Nimoy was pretty damn brilliant.
I'd like to think that I'm a pretty hard core fan of Star Trek and I had no problems with what J.J. Abrams did or how he did it.
It was also one of the few times I have come out of a movie and was thinking about how hard would it be to translate the movie into a TV show? None of the actors are names, outside of Simon Pegg, but the big expense would be the special effects, I guess.
Fantastic movie, can't wait for the sequel.

holy crap, I can't wait for the sequel

you know, I saw him on the morning show the other day and he didn't look too bad ... maybe they made him look older in the film?

oh, and random I just learned ... goofing around on the computer system at the store last night, and happened to come across three men and a baby. director? spock.

FWIW, it's been years since I've watched a theatrical release more than once at the theater. I will see this one at least one more time.

I haven't seen the film yet and don't know the story line/sequencing -- I hope to go today -- but you could be right about this.

Vulcans, after all, are supposed to have WAY longer lifespans than humans...like 100 or 200 years longer. This issue was even directly addressed in a couple episodes of the original series, once on Star Trek: TNG, and a couple times on Star Trek: Enterprise.

I know that Vulcans have longer lifespans.. and they say in the movie that he's 129 years in the past.....He just looked really old. Dentures, weird crap with his eyes. Now, I haven't seen Nimoy as Nimoy for a while, so maybe they did make him look older. But he looks really old. Jesus freaking Tebow. I'm actually insulted that someone would question my grasp of Trek lore/knowledge.
