Been a few ties in Florida too. But given the heightened run totals in the Cactus League, I think pitchers get hooked much more often. And if a guy doesn't finish his allotted inning, his team is gonna struggle to go past 9.

WBC might be a factor as well. Managers and coaches are watching inning and pitch counts closer than usual.

  3. Cubs thinking of new logo and uniforms, according to the report of someone who attending a team focus group session?

Indians closer Chris Perez has a strained shoulder and could be out a month. Will also miss the WBC:

Read like they won't screw with the home uniforms - which they shouldn't - but will add a "throwback" uni and the road uniforms will get a new look.

And the leader for strangest spring training injury in 2013 is Brewers' GM Doug Melvin. Winds up in the hospital after being stung by a scorpion.

Scorpions are horrifying. Spiders with battle armor. This happened in his condo. I would move.

The Yankees are so desperate they reportedly asked Derrek Lee to take himself out of moth balls to play first base:

And Cashman is asking reporters to Tweet that he would be interested in Chipper Jones.

This is going to be a trainwreck of epic proportions.

As a Yankee fan, there's no downside to this (other than looking silly). It's malpractice that they are in this position to begin with, but once they are they absolutely should be trying anything they can. I heard Cashman say that the problem with going out & trading for a bat at 1st, 3rd or the OF is that Tex & Granderson will be back in May. True (though it's not like they have Ted Williams at DH), so the answer is to take care of the hole in your lineup that's not caused by injuries. I know he just signed an extension, but the guy they should be targeting in a trade isRyan Doumit - the Twins aren't going anywhere this year anyway. Anyone have Posada's number?
