We are located in east-central Indiana on Interstate 70 about 45 minutes west of Dayton, Ohio, and about 90 minutes east of Indianapolis. We offer the following opportunity:


    We are looking for a sports reporter to cover area high schools, colleges and non-traditional sports for print and online customers of the Palladium-Item and pal-item.com. Must have good writing skills, especially the ability to organize stories in a journalistic format. Must have an outstanding command of English language, including good spelling and adherence to AP style. Responsibilities: Posting stories on the Web site immediately and updating news as new information is gathered; writing at least one or more stories each workday plus several brief items for print and online; coordinating high school coverage in tandem with sports editor; be prepared to help with news-side stories in evenings and/or on deadline; other duties as assigned.
    Afternoon, evening and weekend work are required with this position. Pay and grade will be determined by qualifications.
    Candidates should have a bachelor's degree and at least one year of recent daily newspaper experience (or at least two newspaper reporting internships) and a good understanding of how to report, write and deliver information to customers in a fast-paced news environment. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and proof of insurance also required.
