    The Pacific Daily News, a member of the USA Today network and the premier media and media solutions company on Guam, is seeking a qualified Sports Reporter.




    The Sports Reporter researches, reports and writes compelling journalism that continuously grows a fan base by informing and engaging readers, acts as a public ambassador through community outreach and connects with readers through social media, provides thoughtful analysis of complex issue, produces watchdog journalism that leads to change and contributes to the community’s great good through impact journalism.. This position works with the content coach, and audience analyst to shape storytelling to meet audience needs and interests on every platform.



    Sports Reporters cover high school, recreational and outdoor sports, all key topics for our readers. Prep coverage must focus on key sports and key schools in our readership. Sports Reporters must go beyond game coverage to write enterprising stories that resonate with readers, particularly the 25-44 audience. Sports Reporters are expected to engage daily with consumers through social media, blogs, stories, etc. Sports Reporters must use social media to report the news and as media to help deliver it. Sports Reporters must use all the storytelling tools that news reporters must also use, from photo and video to long-form storytelling, interactives and graphics.


    Qualifications


    Bachelor’s in Communications, Journalism or equivalent in experience and education.


    Experience developing a personal brand and fan base.


    Experience with advanced storytelling techniques on multiple platforms.

    It's more like brunchtime football (14 hours ahead of the East Coast). And forget about watching those 1 p.m. games.

    If Puerto Rico becomes the 51st state, Guam will be the 52nd to balance it out. Very military and very conservative.

    When my brother, a Navy dermatologist, was preparing for his first time being stationed overseas, the only place he dreaded was Guam.

    Fortunately, he got Yokosuka, Japan.
