    Simon Samano, a sports reporter with the Times-Herald in Vallejo, Calif., will start Sept. 9.

    Ah, another from the Times-Herald straight to the Californian, following in the footsteps of the great Matt Hurst.

    Yes, I am Matt Hurst.

    Maybe he'll head to The Press-Enterprise soon thereafter and when I leave Santa Barbara he can move there.

    Simon will be our general assignment reporter, floating between high school and college beats. He'll likely pick up the Jam (NBDL) beat. Of course, this could all change tomorrow.
