    Description:
    Southern Maryland Newspapers — Maryland Independent, The Enterprise and Calvert Recorder — is looking for a regional sports writer to cover high school and college athletics in Charles, Calvert and St. Mary's counties as well as provide coverage for a variety of sports from car racing to skateboarding, from swimming to recreational and leisure sports.     Wow, that was my first set of jobs -- SE (that is, pretty much the entire sports staff) at the Calvert Recorder, then the SE at the Maryland Indy.

    Good, little papers back in the day (late '80s-early '90s). Growing area, close to DC, good folks to work for.

    LOTS of growth going on down there. Plus they're getting an Atlantic League indy ball team next year. The Barnstormers will find themselves a home.

    The part about the Atlantic League team is true, but it's the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs that will be the team. They just broke ground on the new stadium in Waldorf in the last couple of weeks and the plan is for the travel-only Road Warriors to finally be contracted. The Barnstormers play in Lancaster, Pa.
