The Ledger Independent in Maysville, Kentucky is looking for a full-time sports reporter. It's a two-man shop that covers 13 high schools mixed in with some University of Kentucky, Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds coverage. On top of game coverage, reporters are expected to enterprise their own feature ideas, especially in the summer when times are slow.

This is an hourly position and pay is discussed upon interview. Benefits include full medical, dental and vision plans and The Ledger is owned and operated by Lee Enterprises. The press is in house which can make for flexible deadlines if needed. Layout responsibilities are involved and communicated with a design hub in Munster, Indiana. Social media and marketing of the website is strongly encouraged to promote viewership.

Maysville is a town of about 10,000 people with a real neat and old-fashioned downtown that has a few bars, restaurants and stores. Cost of living is not bad. At least one year of experience is required.

Resume and cover letters can be submitted to: evan.dennison@lee.net

The position is expected to be filled ASAP.

Don't hear that every day! Well, I didn't notice this the first time. Are you opening it back up to all or sifting through resumes from the first go-round?
