Columbia-Greene Media is seeking a full-time sports reporter for its two award-winning dailies, the Register-Star and The Daily Mail, located in New York's Hudson Valley.

We are looking for an enterprising, highly organized, motivated reporter to help cover sports in Columbia and Greene counties.

The ideal candidate is a sports enthusiast who can cover local sports and is looking for a great opportunity for to get a start in journalism.

We look outside the lines in our approach to sports coverage. The right person will be equipped to do it all: discover and write stories, put them out on the web and social media. We love telling stories in innovative ways, making a difference in our community, and having fun every day.

The sports reporter will be expected to:

• Cover high school, some college and other sporting events and come away with more than a traditional game story. In addition, write engaging feature stories.
• Write accurate, clean and clear copy.
• Format box scores and write briefs during the school year.
• Candidates should have technological aptitude and a knowledge of social media, photography and videography.
• Use social media to promote coverage, as well as aid with reporting.
• Tell great stories through writing, photos and videos.
• Develop sports sources.
• Interview sports subjects and research for facts and credibility.
• Write and post daily on all digital platforms including social media.
• Write for the web, including attaching images and video.
