The Quad-City Times is seeking multi-media journalists for its award-winning sports department.

We are in a diverse, two-state, sports-oriented metro area of about 400,000 people that is three hours from the nearest major league sports city but within five hours of six of them. We are just 50 miles from the University of Iowa, have minor-league franchises in baseball and hockey and are home to a PGA tournament and the largest non-marathon road race in the Midwest.

We were named one of the top 10 sports sections in the country last year by APSE and also won an APME Innovator of the Month award for our high school football live blog, Friday Night Tweets. We not only produce high quality print and online products, but also take pride in being on the cutting edge of social networking initiatives in journalism.

The ideal candidate will have a firm belief in enterprise journalism, a hunger for finding good stories and an open mind about identifying new and innovative ways of telling those stories. Experience in copy editing and working with page design also would be helpful.

Qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and preferably 2-3 years of daily newspaper experience.

Other than it being a Lee paper, recommend this one highly.

Great area and a ton of cool stuff to cover.
