The Columbus Telegram is looking for a talented and energetic sports reporter to work in our newsroom with a focus on local prep and college athletics.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with an interest in all areas of sports coverage, from live game stories and photography to feature items and special sections.

This full-time position will work mainly evenings and some weekend hours.

A degree in journalism is preferred, but not mandatory. Experience can be substituted. Photography experience is also a plus.

The Columbus Telegram covers three local high schools, 13 area high schools and a junior college, as well as live horse racing and dirt-track racing during the summer.

The sports reporter works under an editor while completing daily and long-range assignments.

Located within 90 minutes of Omaha, Lincoln and Grand Island, Columbus is an ideal location for a sports reporter looking to learn and grow in a relaxed and professional environment.

A reliable vehicle, insurance and valid driver's license is required.

As part of Lee Enterprises, The Columbus Telegram offers competitive compensation and a full benefits package along with growth opportunities for employees.

To learn more about our company or to apply, please log onto www.columbustelegram.com/workhere. Please include a cover letter, resume and 2-3 work samples.

We are a drug-free workplace and all applicants considered for employment must pass a post-offer drug screen and background/mvr check prior to commencing employment. EOE
