    The Abilene stuff seems to have stabilized. Old editor's gone and new leadership in the section and suddenly the place is getting APSE honorable mentions. (Those that might know better can correct me if I'm wrong, but Abilene High might be a better beat than Permian, truthfully.) Recently, at least.)

    As someone who covered Abilene High in the past, I have to say it is one of the better prep beats in the country when it comes to the quality of football. You also get to deal with a class act in coach Steve Warren. He has built the Eagles into a state power again and had them one fumble away from playing for a state title last fall.
