The Ames Tribune is searching for someone passionate about covering high school sports. We are looking for a sports writer who knows that covering high school sports goes beyond just attending the games, and is someone who knows how to develop the sources needed to be successful. Ames is a growing, vibrant community that is home to Iowa State University. While covering high school sports will be your beat, the opportunity could include assisting on coverage of ISU women's basketball.
Ideal candidates will have a couple of years of experience at a weekly or small daily, but recent graduates who are talented and motivated will be considered.
Please email up to five of your best writing samples, a cover letter that explains your approach to covering high school sports, and a resume to Sports Editor Bobby LaGesse at rlagesse@amestrib.com.
